¿En qué consiste?What is it?
Many properties in Puerto Rico have passed down for generations without ever being recorded in the Property Registry. The expediente de dominio is the proceeding that lets an owner without a recorded title get the property recorded in their name.
It requires evidence of how the property was acquired, a proper description of the parcel, and notices to neighbors and other parties. A recorded property can be sold, mortgaged or inherited without obstacles.
